Task 2
Yes / No responses (clean & powerful)
Say or play A and B, then ask:
Which one sounds confident / final?
Which one sounds uncertain / checking?
Example set 1
A: Are you coming tomorrow?
B1: Yes. ↘
B2: Yes? ↗
↘ = decision made
↗ = checking / not fully sure

Falling = finished / closed meaning
Ask:
Does this sound like the conversation is over?

Falling intonation signals:
✔ certainty
✔ authority
✔ completion
Great for meetings, decisions, presentations.
Rising = polite / inviting / softening

Fall–rise: “Yes, but…” meaning (advanced & juicy)

Quick classroom check activity (2–3 minutes)
Say one response aloud. Students show:
✊ = falling (confident)
✋ = rising (checking)
🤏 = fall–rise (not exactly)
Say:
“I guess so.”
“That’s fine.”
“We’ll see.”
“Maybe.”
Then ask:
How does intonation change the meaning?
