Use Present Continuous in QA with ease and confidence

In Quality Assurance, we use the Present Continuous to describe ongoing testing activities, current bugs, active investigations, deployments, and changing system behavior.

    Present Continuous Formation

When do we use this tense?

    1. Actions happening right now

Use this for tasks currently in progress, active testing sessions, or system behavior happening at the moment.

“The QA team is testing the checkout flow right now.”

“I am reproducing the issue on Android devices at the moment.”

“The application is freezing during file uploads.”

    2. Future arrangements (100% plans)

Use this for scheduled meetings, releases, deployments, or testing activities already planned.

“We are deploying the hotfix tomorrow morning.”

“I am joining the sprint review at 3:00 PM.”

“They are running regression tests after the release.”

    3. Annoying habits (with “always”)

Use this to complain about repeated problems, frustrating bugs, or team habits.

“The test environment is always going down before demos!”

“He is always forgetting to attach screenshots to bug reports.”

“They are always changing the requirements at the last minute.”

    4. Trends and developing situations

Use this for changes in system performance, testing progress, or product quality over time.

“Automation coverage is improving every month.”

“The application is becoming more stable after the latest update.”

“Users are reporting fewer crashes after the patch.”

    Action vs Non-action verbs

In QA, some verbs describe states, opinions, or knowledge rather than active processes. These verbs are usually not used in the Present Continuous.
